INTRODUCTION
BAFTA WINNER Maximus Productions directed, produced and filmed the India leg for a My Life documentary called "Mumbai Street Strikers" which aired on CBBC in June 2018. The film has won the Children’s BAFTA: Best Factual, 2018.
Maximus is the brainchild of Siddharth and Sonia, both of whom have spent the past 28 years leading, executing, and developing ideas for Indian and international broadcast across a range of entertainment and factual formats. Having built a reputation for arriving at creative solutions for platforms and brands across multiple genres, they now function as producers / directors / creative directors / writer team.
Sonia and Siddharth led the Indian adaptations of two international formats – Rivals in Law for FYI TV 18 and Ice Road Truckers – India’s Deadliest Roads for The History Channel, both in 2016. The year ended with the launch of their independent company, Maximus Productions. Since then they have worked across a variety of genres and formats, working independently and in collaboration with international production companies.
In January 2017, Maximus Productions creatively line produced the Andrew Zimmern show, Bizarre Foods Delicious Destinations, across two Indian metros - Mumbai and Hyderabad. The series which aired on The Travel Channel, is produced by the US based production company, Tremendous Entertainment. This was followed by production of a series of shorts for ESPNcricinfo.com around the Indian Premier League called On The Road.
In 2018 we did more episodes of the Andrew Zimmern show, Bizarre Foods Delicious Destinations - this time out of New Delhi and Goa. Siddharth directed another series for ESPNCricinfo.com (ahead of the Indian cricket team’s upcoming tour of Australia) called Undiscover Australia promoting Australia as a tourist destination.
In 2018, Siddharth directed a My Life documentary called "Mumbai Street Strikers" which aired on CBBC in June 2018. The film has won the Children’s BAFTA: Best Factual, 2018, the RTS West of England Award for Best Children’s Film and was a runner up at the prestigious Sanford St Martin’s Award as well. The film was produced by the by UK based production house, Drummer TV and Maximus Productions handled the entire India portion of the award winning film.
In 2019 we line produced several shoot schedules for an exciting reality series for TLC, USA produced by the Manhattan based production house, Sharp Entertainment.
In 2020 & 2021, we produced short educational videos for Emeritus, based on 22 award winning books. Our first foray into the edtech sector.
In 2021, we also collaborated with a US based company, Only Today, to shoot a live online interaction for Facebook in Goa.
In 2021 we creatively line produced and post produced a brand new action-adventure series called India’s Ultimate Warrior in collaboration with UK based BASE Films for Discovery Plus. The 6 part series is hosted by Vidyut Jammwal and sees 16 contestants from different walks of life vie for the title of India’s Ultimate Warrior. The series launched on 4th March 2022 and was simulcast in various languages on the Discovery India Network. The series has won the Best Asian Gameshow Award at Content Asia.
In 2022, we produced for a travel documentary series for Discovery Networks called Expedition Borderlands which premiered on 8th September only on the discovery+ app. British explorer Levison Wood teams up with his dear friend Ash Bhardwaj to journey across 2500kms along the India-Pakistan border, visiting volatile regions, exploring life in the borderlands of India and Pakistan. The series won the Indian Telly Award for Best Travel Show, 2023. It has also been nominated for Best Factual Entertainment Program for a Single Market in Asia at the Content Asia Awards.
We kicked off 2023 with filming a series of three stories for Mariam Society, a Canadian NGO working in rural Maharashtra, supporting underprivileged girls stay in school. We filmed the stories of Asmita, Diksha and Tanushree which are available for viewing on the Mariam Society website.
